The process of retrieving inbound container is the critical,which influences the operation efficiency and the cost of terminal.However,during the operation of retrieving containers in container terminals,the retrieving sequence of inbound containers is not matched with the location of the target containers,which results in huge amounts of rehandling and increases the production costs and operating time.Now,with the development of truck appointment system and the GPS technology,container terminal can acquire the truck arrival information,which is used to optimize the process of retrieving.In order to address the problem of rehandling,an integrated optimizing model of rehandling and retrieving sequence for inbound containers is developed to optimize the retrieving sequence,yard crane assignment and rehandling scheme under the truck arrival incomplete information.To solve the model,a rehandling strategy and a two-stage dynamic programming heuristic are designed.The objectives are to minimize the operation cost of container terminals and the lateness cost of external trucks,and to analyze the impact of truck arrival information on container terminal rehandling.Numerical experiments are provided to illustrate the validity of the proposed model and algorithms.The results indicate that the integrated optimizing of retrieving sequence,rehandling scheme and yard crane assignment can decrease the rehandling ratio and the moving cost of yard cranes,thus can save the total cost of retrieving operation.In addition,the quality of the truck arrival information will affect the cost of the rehandling.The higher quality of the arrival information,the better for optimization,but optimization do not need the complete information,part of the arrival information can reach the same optimization effect.Moreover,the optimization result is also affected by the size of the bay,the density of a bay and the centralization level.
