In recent years,it shows frequently that "prefabricated components","assembly building" and other related words appear in the national level documents and conference reports.Although it is widely accepted that precast concrete is benefit for energy saving and emission reduction, there is still a lack of quantitative analysis methods. In this paper, the carbon footprint in materialization stage of the precast concrete is taken as the research object, and the calculation model is established to quantify the carbon emissions of the precast concrete. The paper summarizes the current domestic and international research progress of carbon emissions, construction carbon emissions and other related aspects, analyzes the necessity of the research content of this paper. What's more, the paper draws lessons from the research process of traditional building carbon emission calculation to form the research focus and research plan of this paper. The materialization stage of precast concrete includes production stage, transportation stage and construction stage.Different kinds of greenhouse gas are converted into CO2 with the global warming trend(GWP).Carbon emission source and carbon emission factor data collected through the literatures and researches are multiplied by the materials, equipment, human consumption data. And finally it get the carbon footprint of precast concrete in every stage of materialization stage. In view of the above research contents, the paper chooses four precast concrete components produced in the precast concrete components workshop of Nanjing DD-PPB Co.,Ltd Industrial Park as the research cases to establish the calculation model of the carbon footprint of the precast concrete, and to obtain the way and potential of the precast concrete components in the materialization stage by analyzing the carbon footprint of each stage. The results show that the main source of carbon emissions from the physical and chemical phases of the prefabricated components comes from the production stage, and during the production phase, the main source of carbon emissions is consumption and use of raw materials. It is also compared with the carbon emissions in the existing model of the present study. The comparison shows that the use of precast concrete components can reduce the carbon emissions by about 19.13%,which highlights the advantages of precast concrete components in energy saving and emission reduction.
