With the economic construction and social development of China's reform and opening up for more than 30 year, urbanization process has been advancing, and the spatial pattern of each city is also continuing to expand. The interactive relationship of many large cities in the development process and the surrounding areas gradually increase,so many large cities in the development also take the surrounding area into account more or less when making urban master plan.In some large cities' development process, its strong centripetal effect doesn't affect only the surrounding areas, and even affects the surrounding cities in the social, economic, cultural and other aspects.Urban agglomeration is the highest spatial organization form of urban development when developing to a certain mature stage. It is a large,multi-core and multi-level urban group which is distributed in a number of core cities and other cities and surrounding satellite cities. The city group relies on the transportation infrastructure such as the national railway, the intercity railway, the urban rail transit city line and the expressway which combine the core city and the surrounding areasinto a same traffic network environment. There is no doubt that the above-mentioned various modes of transport have their own different technical characteristics, operational characteristics and service level and efficiency for the demander. This paper aims to study the competition in the urban space where there is urban rail transit, intercity railway and automobile transportation.Firstly, the paper analyzes the formation and development of the city, and analyzes the characteristics of the traffic patterns in different stages of urban development.Taking Xi'an as an example, the paper analyzes the relationship between urban spatial development and urban traffic characteristics.Secondly, the paper analyzes the characteristics of metro city line from the aspects of station distribution, train speed, passenger flow characteristics, ticket system setting, transportation organization mode and passenger waiting time so as to know more about the characteristics of urban rail transit. The characteristics of the national railway, intercity railway and automobile is analyzed in detail to lay the foundation for the establishment of the generalized travel cost function. The paper defines the generalized cost based on the rail transit passenger and analyzes the model of the generalized cost based on the rail transit passenger. Then, the forecasting model of the general mode is selected as the improved Logit model. Then, the paper analyzes the differences between urban rail transit and automobile and intercity railway from the perspectives of economic factors, time factors and the convenience of passengers based on the model. Finally, after the three modes of urban rail transit, automobile and intercity railway were compared, these three different modes of transport sharing ratio were calculated and the choice of these three modes of transport were analyzed. At the end of the paper, the author uses the Xi'an Metro Line 9(Lin tong Line)as a concrete example to calibrate the specific generalized cost function parameters, and calculate the way of sharing the three different modes of transportation, which provides guidance to the construction, operation and managementfor the city of Xi'an Metro Line 9(Lin tong line).
