Electronic Data Interchange(EDI)is an inter-communication method using standard electronic message between partners,which is announced by International Standardization Organization(ISO).It can be used dealing with business and administrative transactions in terms of acknowledged standard and formatting a string of structured messages,as well as transmitting via Internet from computer to computer.The EDI message,e.g.Long Term Forecast,Advance Shipment Notice,etc.are applied in Automobiles Parts Industry.Automobiles Parts Industry is a large-scale and cooperative Industry.It involves multi-industry of chemical,electronic,mechanical processing and metal casting.The production modes are various including discrete manufacturing and processing manufacturing.In order to compress products inventory and reduce production cost,the suppliers are required provide Vendor Management Inventory(VMI)for production and supply according to Time,Quantity and Quality.Meanwhile,the Automobile Parts Industry are able to be desired to respond the planning changes from OEM and correct their production planning.Furthermore,the inventory,production capability and delivery should be considered to adapt the updated forecast.Thereby,the integrated planning of logistics management,raw material supply,and workshop production management are also adjusted by frequent changes.Hence,resources are leveraged rationally,planning are improved,and inventories are compressed to control cost.In conclusion,the supplier was required the diversifications of production planning,delivery planning and all links during production must have the same frequency with OEM.Manual processing are not able to meet this demands,only use EDI system to promote the efficiency of data exchanging and information processing to require the supply with Just in Time(JIT)or Just in Sequence(JIS).EDI system is like bridge between OEM and their suppliers to provide the data exchanging,and implement OTD(Order to Delivery)with standard interchange structure to cooperate working between production information and order information.EDI standard and system was applied generally in the Automobile Parts Industry worldwide.This paper was researched based on real example in the background of automobile industry to study and analyze the relevant technology about Electronic Data Interchange(EDI).The content involves theoretical knowledge of EDI,architecture of EDI system,transmission mode,mapping and convert,as well as data transfer with other ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning)system such as SAP(System Applications and Products).This paper plays emphasis on data transmission protocol,data mapping and EDI message processing.The project with automobile manufacturing FORD was selected as the example to demonstrate the settings of data transmission,mapping and message translation over JAVA development.The converted data was imported into SAP system over JCO and RFC technique in order to achieve the data seamless integration during the different system.Through these studies and practices,it provides progressive and achievable solutions of EDI system implementation to the Automobile Parts Industry.It improves the enterprise management level,optimizes the business processes,and accomplishes Lean Production(LP)and logistics management to adapt the enterprise development and market competition.Most of experiences and techniques are appropriate the other enterprise who is implementing the EDI system.
