The severe contradiction between the rapid development of civil aviation and the limited airspace resources has caused great economic losses,which seriously affected the sound development of China's air transport industry.As the connection between enroute and aerodromes,the terminal is the key to the congestion due to its special location and structure.Utilizing simulation and data analysis comprehensively,making researches on evolution mechanism of air traffic congestion in terminal area,and exploiting the current airspace operation status,provide technical support and reference for air traffic control and airspace system planning,which is of vital significance for the effective implementation of air traffic flow management strategy and air traffic organization optimization.Setting the terminal area as the research object,the paper has studied the evolution mechanism of air traffic congestion in terminal area under different factors,by means of experiment and cluster analysis method.Firstly,the research background and significance were introduced,the study progress both at home and abroad were summarized,the research way and content arrangement were briefly described.Then,the concept of air traffic congestion in terminal area was defined based on the form of air traffic congestion in terminal area and air traffic flow operation status,and the evolution mechanism of air traffic congestion in terminal area were further analyzed respectively.The indicator system of terminal air traffic congestion evaluation was established by selecting a series of evaluating key indicators including the flow ratio,velocity and density etc,also,a kind of method to evaluate air traffic congestion state in terminal areas based on fuzzy c-means clustering was proposed and testified by SIMMOD.Furthermore,the spatial-temporal evolution mechanism of air traffic congestion in terminal area were studied,and the evolution mechanism of constant and sudden air traffic congestion were expounded via the congestion characteristics of the terminal area.Finally,the main research results were discussed,and the subsequent research idea was pointed out.
