Because of the differences of anthropometric dimensions between eastern and western occupants,the automobile restraint system designed for Hybrid III dummies may not effectively protect the Chinese occupants,thus the creation of finite element human body models representing Chinese occupants can provide instructions for the protection of Chinese occupants.In this thesis,a human body model representing Chinese 5th percentile female was created using a scaling method,and the analysis of the relation between anthropometric dimension and the dynamic response of eastern and western 5th percentile female in frontal impact was conducted.Based on the latest anthropometric dimensions of the eastern and western human bodies,21 anthropometric dimensions of eastern and western 5th percentile female,50 th and 95 th percentile male were analyzed.The influence of discrepant anthropometric dimensions between eastern and western occupants on injury criteria of occupants during frontal impact were discussed.The scaling method of human body model was studied,and the Chinese 5th percentile female human body model was created based on the western 5th percentile female THUMSD-F05 using this scaling method.The scaled eastern 5th percentile female human body model was extensively validated against frontal as well as lateral load impact cases.It turned out that the biofidelity of the eastern 5th percentile female is quite satisfactory according to the validations results,and the anthropometric dimensions of the eastern 5th percentile female human body model can well reflect that of the Chinese 5th percentile female.The eastern and western 5th percentile female manikins were positioned in a middle class sedans based on ergonomics,and the human body models were adjusted using pre-simulation and Ada PT software.Two frontal impact simulations of eastern and western 5th percentile female were conducted using a sled model of a middle class Sedan according to the FMVSS regulations.The injury criteria of some body parts are calculated after the simulations,and the differences of injury criteria between eastern and western 5th percentile female are compared.The results showed that the values of injury metrics for head and thorax of eastern 5th percentile female HBM are less than those of the western 5th percentile female HBM.However,the values of injury metrics for neck and lower extremities of eastern 5th percentile female HBM are greater than those of the western 5th percentile female HBM.Besides,the kinematics responses of the two HBMs are obviously different,which would have influence on the injury risks of occupants.
