With the rising amount of vehicles in China, there are more and more women drivers. Women drivers have become an important part in the modern traffic safety which cannot be neglected. Now, 2015 E-NCAP(European- New Car Assessment Programme) has increased frontal full width test in which a fifth female occupant has been placed in the driving seat. So to study new constraint system of women drivers has become a new target of many car companies. Because of smaller body size, female drivers are closer to the steering wheel in the process of driving which means female drivers have less space for arrangement than male drivers. In the process of collision, female drivers will suffer more damage than male. In this situation, the safety of female drivers in the 40% offset collision is analyzed. With the analysis of safety of male drivers, we get the constraint system which can protect both male and females drivers at the same time.This main research content is as follows:1. Analyze lots of female occupant safety related literatures in domestic and overseas. The related content of female occupant safety is summarized and introduced. The background and research significance of this thesis are further illustrated.2. Summarize the Europe, the U.S., Japan and China’s female occupant constraint system of different collision regulations. Meanwhile analyze the concrete criterion of female occupant constraint system.3. The computer simulation software MADYMO is introduced in the application of vehicle passive safety research. A driver constraint system model has been established by MADYMO which includes car body, airbag, safety belts, seat, and dummy. At last, a fifth percentile female driver constraint system is established.4. Analysis of the fifth percentile female driver constraint of system parameters including Y axis rotation of the car body(change angular and speed of rotation), Z axis rotation of the car body(change angular and speed of rotation), upper and lower position of steering wheel, longitudinal position of steering wheel, installation angle of airbag, airbag drawstring length of the four and eight o’clock position, time to fire airbag, the diameter of airbag vent and belt force.5. The new constraint system can protect both fiftieth and fifth percentile passenger by optimizing the diameter of airbag vent, belt force, time to fire airbag and airbag drawstring length of the four o’clock position. For female driver, thorax compression has been reduced 6.71% from origin 32.802 mm to 30.602 mm and neck bending moment has been reduced 35.49% from origin 12.734 Nm to 8.215 Nm.
