The application of steel beam-reinforced concrete column composite structure(RCS)has promoted the further research of its mechanical property,especially on the RCS composite joints.As the connection of each component,the bearing capacity of joints directly affects the reliability of the structure.Therefore,it is important to design a joint with enough strength.On the ground of the variety and complexity of RCS composite joints,the experimental research is time consuming.The numerical techniques are widely used due to their better applicability,lower cost and more convenience.In this paper,the finite element software ANSYS is used to study the influence of different structures on the performance of the joints.The main work and related conclusions are as follows:(1)The research status and application situation of RCS composite joints at home and abroad were briefly reviewed.(2)The software ANSYS is used to study the bearing performance of two typical specimens.The simulated results are in good agreement with the existing experimental data.(3)Based on the above work,another 11 beam-through joints with different structures were designed.The influence of the several factors such as the width of the face bearing plate,the beam-to-column section aspect ratio,the concrete’s compressive strength,the parameters of notched and embedded bearing plate,on the joint bearing capacity was discussed.Our study shows that the shear resistance of joints obviously increases with the first three ones.As for the joints with notched bearing plate(notched joints for short),the half height of the remaining bearing plate should meet dp≥0.45dw(dw is the height of the steel beam web),and the existence of notch with reasonable size will not reduce the bearing capacity.In view of the joint with embedded bearing plate(embedded joints for short),where a plate is inserted into the center of the joint core area,the diagonal bar mechanism of the internal concrete can be directly strengthened.With the proper increase in width or decrease in thickness of the bearing plate,the shear strength of both notched and embedded joints can be improved.(4)The bearing capacity of joints was further obtained through the loads at the end of the beam from finite element modeling,and then compared with the theoretical one.It is found that the finite element results are generally greater than the analytical ones.
