With the improvement of living standards and medical conditions,the elderly population increased significantly.At the same time,family miniaturization and intergenerational separation phenomenon has become increasingly apparent,leading to the increasing of elderly people who live alone.Due to the particularity of the elderly community,they will meet many problems in aspects such as physiology and psychology.On the one hand,because of the degradation of the physiological functions,the elderly usually has physical disability with different degree of senile diseases.They have the problem of accident hidden trouble and inconvenience in daily life.On the other hand,with the reduce of communication with family and the outside world,the elderly will usually feel lonely and depressed.Aiming at such problems,different kinds of homecare products began to appear on the market.However,those existing products generally have an apathetic appearance,lacking of usability and practicality and interaction with users.Older users will easily feel confused and distant.They don't like the feeling of being watched under the camera.They need a better way to be cared.As the partner meet everyday,the product should be more friendly and useful.Naisbitt has said that we are heading for the two directions of high technology and high emotion,human beings try to give each new technology with a compensation,a kind of high emotional compensation.People nowadays are not merely satisfied with the original utility function of the product.They are more concerned about its appearance and user experience,and whether it can make themselves feel good.Emotions and emotional consumption has become an important feature of the product except its function consumption.This paper will based on the theory of emotional design of product,focusing on people's requirement of spirit and emotion,redesigning the homecare product for the elderly with the theories of product semantics,design psychology,semiology,ergonomics and people-centered design process,aiming to promote its usability and interaction with more vitality and affinity.
