Pumps are important rotary equipment in the industrial field, in all types of pump products centirfugal pumps are the most widely used. All along, the optimization design and performance improvement of the multi-stage centrifugal pump hydraulic model have been paid more and more attention. Especially after the emergence of computational fluid dyniamics(CFD) technology, the design and numerical simulation of the pump have made the research and development to a new level. Up to now, the research of the multi-stage centrifugal pump multi-mode design and steep drop(eliminate hump) is in less. The object of the study is a medium head safety injection(MHSI) pump of the Evolutionary Pressurized Reactor(EPR) nuclear island from SBW Nulear Pump Co. Ltd.. Because of its special working environment, its design indicators, safety and reliability also put forward higher requirements. In this paper, the hydraulic of the first impeller and diffuser, secondary impeller and diffuser and the net positive suction head(NPSH) are studied. The preliminary design of the model is realized by using the one-dimensional design and performance prediction module of Concept NREC. Then the NUMECA software is used to simulate and calculate the hydraulic performance of each component and the results are analyzed and compared, improved design of three-dimensional blade with NREC, optimize the hydraulic properities of the main flow components. And then through the superposition of the various levels of numerical simulation to study the inter-stage effects. Through the comparative analysis of multiple programs to determine the design to meet the requirements of the final program. Finally, the model expriment is conducted, and the experimental results are compared with the numerical simulation results, in the low flow area, the simulation head is lightly lower than the experimental results, the efficiency is basically the same; in the high flow area, the lift is basically the same, the simulation efficiency is slightly higher than the experimental results. The results show that the proposed scheme is accurate and reliabe. The performance of the hydraulic model of the MHSI pump that designed and developed in this paper have reached the design requirements. It fills the gap, compares with the international advanced technology does not strive and it brings considerable econmic and social benefits to the company.
