Reservoir is the most important water conservancy infrastructure in the development of national economy and society in China,which plays an important role in water resources management and flood control and disaster reduction. With the development of economy, the increasing demand for water resources will become more and more obvious. However, the security of reservoir project is not optimistic, when the reservoir plays its important role,because of the engineering design, construction and operation management are unreasonable,leading to the reservoir dam break. The reservoir dam break province is very serious and resulted population casualties, huge social economic loss and ecological environment question.The safety problem of reservoir dam has been paid more and more attention. In order to maximize the benefit of the reservoir to the human and reduce the adverse effects of the reservoir,so we have attached high importance to research and design spillway structure in the reservoir construction, in order to eliminate the negative impact caused by flood dam break, so that the reservoir can always benefit our future generations.The spillway is the main and the only discharge structure in water conservancy project, through the spillway to discharge flood,the discharge capacity is directly related to the safety of the reservoir dam.This paper mainly research of spillway. Based on the reinforcement and enlargement project of the Heshui reservoir spillway in xingning city,by the experimental study on water conservancy model of spillway,pointed out such troubles in the old layout,and through a series of tests,according to the characteristics of the project,it put forward an economic, reasonable and safe of optimal scheme,In order to change the discharge capacity of Heshui reservoir,ensure the safety and economic development of the downstream area of the reservoir dam.Finally through many years of operation,show that the optimal scheme is withstand the test of the flood. In the reservoir extension project, research ability, the effect of energy dissipation and engineering arrangement for the spillway flow through the hydraulic model test, has irreplaceable scientific significance.Research on the reinforcement and enlargement project of the Heshui reservoir spillway in xingning city,to eliminate the negative effects of reservoir dam,and provide technical reference for the construction of spillway and reservoir flood discharge safety problems in the future, and build good foundation for reservoir construction and management,realize the harmonious development between reservoir and economic society, which advanced the development of our economy and social development.
