Water is the source of livelihood.With the rapid development of economy and society,more and more attention has been paid to the security of drinking water.Water is delivered to households through water supply network system.However,because of the complexity of water supply network system and the water flowrate and pressure in pipe works during the runtime,the generation and accumulation of the gas are unavoidable.The presence of gas in pipe network could cause the kinetic energy consumption,gas explosion water hammer and instability of pipe system.Therefore,it is necessary to remove the gas in pipe network so as to reduce the influences as far as possible.As an essential auxiliary element in pipe system,exhaust valves are widely used where there is a highest point,a turn,or an air leakage.With them,the gas in the pipe can be removed and the network can operate normally.It is an important index for water supply system to exhaust smoothly in safe operation.Many engineering practices confirme that the pipe network will not operate normally,even explode,with substandard exhaust valves or without them.So,to guarantee the safe operation,well performing exhausting valves must be used and need a proper installation and maintenance.The project was aimed at FC area in Fengxian,investigated the current situation of exhausting valve in this area,analyzed the typical problems and discussed the causes.Based on the aforementioned foundations,the model of indoor pipes and the simulation of exhausting conditions were made.The removal rates of gas in given conditions were calculated using the data.Hence,the performance and economics of different exhaust valve could be compared to provide basis for choosing valves.Through the experiments,there come up with some suggestions,such as the position of exhaust valve and adding to infundibular accessories to contribute to the exhaust effect.At the same time,aiming at the service condition,there also comes uo with a simple and effective way to detect whether the existing exhaust valves are still in normal operation.Finally,the project tested the exhaust valves in this area to observe their condition.Through the site practice,pipe explosions in this area decreas a lot.This project focused on the performance measuring of exhaust valves of crossover main in water supply system based on gas and water pressure drop simulation,and explored the use of exhaust valves in a safe and efficient way.This study can provide theoretical support in solving the exhaust problem and guaranteeing the water supply operating safely and effectively.
