A Study On Spatial Form Differences Of Waterfront Of Pearl River Two Banks In Guangzhou

Waterfront is an important urban space with unique complexity.Pearl River Front Channel Waterfront is a meaningful urban space of Guangzhou city.It is an indispensable part of urban history and still the most iconic image of the city.To have a comprehensive understanding of this important urban space,it is necessary to take the geographical differences,planning and regulation differences and cultural differences,into account for its spatial form and the possible problems,which were usually neglected in previous studies.Meanwhile,this paper will review its development process,to establish a relatively precise understanding of the waterfront space.Chapter One: Based on the above background thinking,through a preliminary study of urban spatial form,urban waterfront and Pearl River Front Channel,which relate to the topic of this paper.Hierarchical analysis is adopted as the key method in this paper,in order to create an objectively comprehensive cognition of Pearl River Front Channel waterfront in Guangzhou with quantitative research results under the perspective of urban design.Chapter Two: To review the evolution process of spatial form of the subject,it is divided into five phases since 1840,the late Qing Dynasty.By studying the construction background and actual construction events that had been happened,it is sunmmarized into three levels of waterfront spatial form,ground plane,texture plane and section plane,providing basic data analysis for the next chapter.Chapter Three: Analyzing the structural characteristics of spatial form from macro to micro hierarchy,it is found that while the northern part forwarded to the water,waterfront space with significant scale and value permeate the inland with fine urban texture;the southern part fail to create the a permeable waterfront spatial form.Chapter Four and Chapter Five: Based on the difference of from above,trying to put forward preliminary cause study from nature,planning and management,culture.Judging from the relatively better one of two banks,the north part as a reference object,the permeable waterfront spatial form strategy is put forward-to construct inland-permeable waterfront space,waterfront small block design and historical element utilization,and put forward specific proposals for specific strategy implementation of the two bank situation.
