In recent years,metamaterials become a hot topic in scientific and engineering field.The researchers attache great importance to the electromagnetic devices based on metamaterials,and have made remarkable achievement in scientific research field.Metamaterials refer to some materials composed of artificial composite structures or composite materials,and have many superior physical properties which not possessed by natural materials.By orderly designing the structure and key physical scale of these artificial structures,metamateriasl can break the limitation of some laws of nature.Then a series of super-normal functions that don’t exist in the nature materials are acquired.Owing to the above advantages,researches on the novel electromagnetic devices based on metamaterials tend to be significant.And researches show that the metamaterials can be very effective in designing electromagnetic devices,and have been widely used in designing various electromagnetic devices.These devices are applied extensively in many fields such as the military and the scientific fields.This work is carried out under the background of these researches.We firstly analyze the species of metamaterials,the implementation mechanism and the electromagnetic devices based on metamaterials.And we mainly introduce the basic principle and the implementation of the drilled unit in detail.Secondly,based on transformation optics,we design a kind of bi-functional electromagnetic device.The device can be designed as a conventional right angle reflector or as a cloaking after be reconstructed.And then based on conformal mapping in the transformation optics principle,a multi-functional lens is designed.We analyze the design principle,parameter distribution and versatility of the multi-functional lens,and then construct the multi-functional lens by using artificial drilled unit materials(multi-function: Luneberg lens,Eaton lens and corner waveguide).Besides,the static magnetic illusion devices based on magnetic materials and Laplace equation are studied.We can camouflage a specific object with particular shape by solving the Laplace equation under specific boundary conditions.An object coated with an illusion layer can be detected as another one or a magnified one in the “eye” of radar.All designs are verified by theoretical derivations and numerical simulations.The designed electromagnetic devices have potential application value in the scientific research,military,defense and other fields.
