Metamaterials have many unique physical properties that natural materials do not exist. Transformation optics provides a new and powerful tool for researchers to tailor electromagnetic waves. Some theoretical and experimental investigations on illusion-optics devices have been done in this thesis based on the transformation optics theory. We strictly and detailedly analized the illusion optics devices and also verified the functions of some illusion optics devices by experimental measurement. The main contributions and contents of this thesis are listed as follows:(1) Two illusion optics devices are strictly analized. Starting with Maxwell's Equations, we deduce the electromagnetic parameters by applying transformation optics and solve the electric-field wave equations based on egienmode expansion method. We obtain and analyze the scattering coefficients by using boundary conditions of electric fields and magnetic fields and consider some special cases. In order to confirm the identical properties of the scattering fields between illusion optics devices and original devices, we illustrate the distributions of real parts of scattering fields and also compare the relationship between the scattering coefficients of illusion devices and original devices.(2) A two-dimensional annular focusing lens is proposed and verified. Such an illusion device guides electromagnetic waves to propagate around the central barrier smoothly and focus on one spot behind the device. In order to realize the functions, inhomogeneous and anisotropic electromagnetic metamaterials are used with high permittivity and low permeability. These parameters can be realized by an improved SRR structure.(3) A three-dimensional invisible gateway is proposed and verified. The 3D invisible gateway is realized using effective medium theory and verified through experiment measurement. This invisible gateway stops the electromagnetic waves propagating into the door. The electromagnetic parameters of invisible gateway structures are isotropic. To realize the isotropic magnetic permeability with the value of -1, we used the cross-placing SRR structure along x direction and y direction, respectively. When electrical field of incident wave is polarized along +z direction, both permeabilities along x direction and y direction are -1. Experimental results show that the proposed device is able to realize the function of invisible gateway.
