Business Model Design And System Architecture Research Of Open Container Sharing System

Container transportation is the development direction of break bulk transportation. It enjoys the advantages of fast transshipment, simple transportation procedure and short berth time, which can ensure the safe, quick and timely arrival of the goods at the correct destination. The development of container transportation has brought a promising future for container leasing industry,in past 50 years, the percentage of the leased containers in all the containers around the world was more than 45%, by 2015, the number of leased containers in China had accounted for more than 90% in the total number of containers in this country. So far, the problems in the container leasing industry,such as the disordered management of containers, the lack of ensurance of the safety of the container box and the goods inside, as well as the overdue maintenance of containers have been seriously obstructing the development of the container leasing industry. The open-style container sharing system raised in this thesis can efficiently solve or alleviate these problems, and thus contributes to the promotion of containerized transportation.The pains of the present container leasing industry, the advantages and disadvantages of the current container leasing mode, as well as the status quo of the container leasing market in China are analyzed firstly. In Chapter 3, on the basis of the analysis, the design of the open leasing mode of the open-style container sharing system is introduced, showing the character of openness of the system and the characters of the container as valuable containerized carrier from two aspects: reliable asset management and the improvements of the utilization rate of asset-heavy. After that, the benefit that this mode can bring is roughly calculated with the collected data. The feasibility is demonstrated in terms of the system, market, economy, technology and policy. In Chapter 4, soft system is employed to analyze the demands of different types of system users and hence the basis of the system design. At last, according to the result of demand analysis, the functional modules and structure of the system are discussed,then system modelling was designed and system is implemented.Oriented at the requirements of all parties involved, the open container sharing system can bring benefits to all parties of the system and can significantly improve the utilization ratio of containers. However, this business mode has not started yet. So the industrial standards and the layout of container yard still remain to be further studied.
