China,as the world's second largest packaging country,has independent packaging industry,which has already become one of the main sources of China's GDP.Nowadays,industrial packaging in China is worthy of thousand billion RMB.However,in lieu of environmental protected,the rapid development of our industrial packaging costs a large number of carbon emission,which takes up about 2.74%of total carbon emission in China.And due to high quantity of carbon emission,it limits the development of China's packaging industry.After analyzing the development history of packaging industry of both China and foreign countries,I realized that the main reason for China's unique "high emission packaging" is that the packaging design is independent of product design.In order to solve the abnormal development mode of China's packaging industry,several methods of "low-carbon packaging design" is created in this paper.And those methods can reduce the carbon emission to a large degree and meanwhile accelerate the development of China's packaging industry.Combined Low-Carbon Philosophy and principle with characteristics of product packaging,I first made an analysis of high carbon emission problem after the packaging has been thrown away.Secondly,low-carbon design and low-carbon packaging,as a total new method of packaging,are created in this paper.Thirdly,by illustrating examples,I concluded the function of low-carbon packaging and the basic principle of low-carbon design,which is known as"5R Principles".Fourthly,this paper also mentioned the way to optimal low-carbon packaging.That is material,structure,and visual simplification.Fifthly,this paper analyzed the application of these three ways and proved their effectiveness by illustrating examples.This paper also made a research about the current situation of China's packaging and material recycle and developed new design methods to solve the problems that have been founded during the research.The specific methods are as following:Reutilization,Multifunction,and Simplification.By using CAD mapping,Rhinoceros Modeling,3D Max and combined data calculation,effectiveness of low-carbon emission packaging design has been proved.Through the analysis of low carbon packaging that has been mentioned above,optimal directions of packaging have been created in this paper.From the aspect of Reutilization:people should choose those materials that can be recycled,disposable,and reutilized.From the aspect of Multifunction:the structure of packaging should also be reused and easy to disassemble.From the aspect of Simplification,the material should be based on its specific characteristics,and combined with color,text and mapping.Lastly,this paper also mentioned the application of low-carbon design.The reuse design,through material reutilization,could reuse around 40.81%of woods that have been thrown away,reduce 68%of total carbon emission,and limit the emission during working process.Multifunctional design,through expansion of packaging's functions,could extend the average life of packaging design more than 10 years,and thus realize a "zero carbon emission".Minimalist design,through increasing the effectiveness of packaging materials,could reduce the carbon emission during producing process.In a word,the three design methods are the most effective methods of "Low-Carbon" packaging design.
