With the rapid progress of industrialization and urbanization in a context of the rapid development in the national economy,the scale and investment involving industrial and civil construction,roads and bridges,ports,and so on has gradually increased.The retaining wall,especially in the hilly region,is often used in the support structure.It is very important to know better how to increase the investment benefits of the retaining wall,to guarantee the project quality and to improve the construction environment.In order to improve the basic bearing capacity of the traditional retaining wall,to reduce the retaining wall accidents caused by the insufficient load-bearing capacity of the foundation and the improper handling to the foundation,and to protect and improve construction site safety,This paper on the basis of the seniors’ research,the ring or the pier prefabricated retaining wall foundation is devised which possesses the simple foundation construction,outstanding performance,extensive application and good market prospect.After review domestic and overseas studies correlatively,this study goes on systematic research on the vertical and horizontal bearing capacity in the ring and the pier prefabricated retaining wall foundation with the method of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation.The main research contents and the results are as follows:1.Using the limit equilibrium method,this study analyzes the structure characteristics,the stress mechanism and damage mode of the ring and the pier prefabricated retaining wall.In addition,the calculating method of the vertical and horizontal ultimate bearing capacity is put forward in the pier prefabricated retaining wall foundation and the ring.The analysis indicates that the ring and the pier prefabricated retaining wall foundation significantly improve the bearing capacity of the traditional retaining wall foundation.Based on the comparison of the vertical and horizontal ultimate bearing capacity,this kind of foundation is superior to the traditional one.2.By means of numerical simulation,five kinds of retaining wall foundation models--the raft,the square ring,the square pier,the circle ring,the circle pier--are respectively built up.This study systematically analyzes the ring and the pier prefabricated retaining wall foundation under different loading ways and soil properties.The numerical result has shown that the bearing capacity of the ring or the pier prefabricated retaining wall foundation is superior to the traditional plate base inclay and sand.From the comparison with the vertical ultimate bearing capacity and the subsidence,it shows that the square ring and the square pier foundation has the best performance,The circle ring and the circle pier foundation comes second and the raft foundation is the worst;From the comparison with the horizontal ultimate bearing capacity,it shows that the sequence of good performance from good to bad is: the square ring foundation,the circle ring foundation,the square pier foundation,the circle pier foundation and the raft foundation.3.Combining the theory and finite element analysis results,this study puts forward three kinds of optimization schemes--increasing the square ring height,reducing the square ring thickness and expanding the square ring external perimeter--for the best comprehensive properties of the square ring foundation.And these three optimization schemes are verified by the numerical simulation calculation.The results show that these three measures can improve the bearing capacity of the square ring foundation model effectively.
