The residential high-rise building comes to taking an important role in solving housing problem in large and medium size cities.Furthermore, the steel structure becomes predominate in high-rise buildings with increasing heights of buildings, replacing the reinforced concrete structure as a result. This kind of structures is always built with a narrow-shaped across-section for ventilation and day lighting. These buildings will be faced with remarkable wind induced responses constantly,in which the across-wind load takes an important part. Therefore,it is necessary to do more research of these slab-type residential high-rise buildings. In this paper,an engineering example will be adopted for analyzing the fluctuating wind load and wind induced response of slab-type high-rise buildings. The synchronous multi-pressure sensing system(SMPSS)technique will be used to get the properties of local fluctuating wind load.Relatively, the high-frequency pressure integration(HFPI)technique will be used to get the properties of global fluctuating wind load. Then,a numerical wind tunnel test will be used to analyze the mechanism of the fluctuating wind load of board high-rise buildings, which results will be compared by the datum of wind tunnel tests for verifying the accuracy of numerical simulation, considering the influence of wind attack angles and section types. At last, the analysis about the wind induced responses of buildings will be taken based on datum of aerodynamic forces, which result from all these tests, considering the influence of structural dynamic characteristics, fluctuating wind characteristics, wind attack angles and group effect.
