Greening of product is one of the major trend in machinery industry. Structure symmetry played a vital role in satisfying green requirement, which has drawn people's attention. There are lots studies on green design and symmetry design at home and abroad. However, research on meeting product green requirements by structure symmetry is still rare. This thesis focuses on how to apply structure symmetry to improve the green performance of machinery. The main research contents and results can be classified into following four aspects:Firstly, based on product life cycle, the system of green requirement in mechanical design was established, which included five aspects: material saving,energy saving, time saving, environmental friendliness and human friendliness.Secondly, based on the instances, application and effect of structure symmetry in satisfying the green requirement of products were analyzed. And some the association knowledge between green requirement and structure symmetry was proposed.Thirdly, based on instance analysis, some association knowledge between mechanical structure symmetry and green performance was refined. And then design method and process of structure symmetry in satisfying green requirement were proposed.Fourthly, based on the method referred above, the practice of green product design was carried out, and the invention patent of a dynamo-electric speed bump which was used for energy recycle was authorized.
