Due to the increasing depletion of oil resources and the growing requirements of environmental policies,the future development is a new kind of ship using clean eco-friendly energy. It is one of the most promising way of new energy development that the using of photovoltaic solar energy collection devices to generate electricity.This paper has mastered the key technologies of the solar energy applications for large ocean carriers in the marine environment relying on very large crude carrier project. This paper also has optimized the design of large crude carrier solar energy solutions, assessed the solar energy efficiency and analyzed structural reliability. The main content includes:1. Discuss the principles of the application for PV systems on large crude carrier,the arrangement of solar photovoltaic panels on the tanker deck, the influence on the ship's strength of PV systems, the assessment on the use of solar energy saving effect.2. Discuss the basic process of CCS rule direct calculation, including models of ship structure, dealing with the boundary conditions, choosing loading conditions,calculating the load, solving and analyzing the results.3. The yielding strength, buckling and fatigue strength assessment of VLCC was done according to the CCS rules.4. According to the empirical formulas of the wave load of green water, analyze the local strength of solar photovoltaic panels in the marine environment.
