In some areas of industries such as underground water injection or transmission and so on, the heat dissipation of the chip is proposed high requirements because control chip is arranged in the narrow space. According to Moore's law, the chip wafer is designed by researcher more and more small in the course of time. The heat generated by chip will be more with the higher speed of calculation and the higher power. The reliability life of chips will be decrease if the chip temperature is very high all the time. A new kind of impinging-jet water chip cooler is designed in this thesis according to the requirements of control system applying to underground water injection and transmission.Firstly, according to the installation requirement of chips in the injection allocation underground, two different kinds of impinging-jet water chip coolers which have the detailed dimension are designed based on the basic theories of engineering fluid mechanics and heat transfer.Secondly, the pressure loss of models is calculated and analyzed from the respect of the fluid flow based on the simulation of ANSYS Workbench. In the same flow velocity, the pressure loss of model one is larger than model two. From the heat transfer prospective, the Nusselt number of model one is larger than model two. In the view of chips temperature,model one is lower than model two.Thirdly, the model one dimension is determined in the comparison of model two comprehensively and optimized by the ANSYS Workbench. At the same time, the flow and thermal fields are simulated by Fluent. The manufactured model one is applied to the experiments and the temperature data are compared to the simulation results. The results show that different flow velocities have different influences on the chip temperature.Lastly, based on the bionic theories and other research achievements from other researchers,the impinging-jet water chip cooler is improved and simulated in the Fluent and applied in the experiments. The results show that the improved cooler has a good impact on the heat transfer. Based on the CAO software ISIGHT, the structure size of bio-inspired design is optimized for better cooling effect of the heat sink.
