Water film evaporative air cooler saves more energy and water than common air cooler, which is worthy to popularize as a type of industrial cooling device. An investigation is made to compare characteristics of heat transfer and wind resistance of water film evaporative air cooler with film sheet and the air cooler with no film sheet. The heat transfer coefficient in tubes of the air cooler for cooling and condensing is analyzed. The working condition of water film evaporative air cooler is changed by regulating the heat fluid inlet temperature, wind flow and spray water. In addition to regulating and measuring the parameters of working condition, the author also measured parameters such as ambient temperature, relative humidity, heat fluid outlet temperature, air inlet temperature and air outlet temperature, which is integrated to calculate characteristics of heat transfer and wind resistance of water film evaporative air cooler. A design of the orthogonal test program and single-variable experiment is made to study characteristics of heat transfer and wind resistance of two different evaporative air coolers.The experiment shows that heat fluid temperature difference of water film evaporative air cooler between the inlet and outlet becomes larger if increasing air flow, that is to say, heat exchange is increased and is increased greater than of common evaporative air cooler. However, increasing water spray doesn't affect significantly for heat transfer for water film evaporative air cooler. Experiment also shows that the heat transfer amount of the water film evaporative air cooler is obviously increased up to 28% and energy consumption is evidently decreased. Fans energy consumption can be reduced by more than 15%.The author also investigates the simulation of properties of common fluid in the evaporative air cooler with reasonable regression function of material properties parameters, and gives a method to calculate the cooling and condensation heat transfer coefficient by means of using Matlab software.
