Abstract/Summary:
The current turbine is a key component of the ocean current energy unit and affects the overall operating performance of it.Research on the hydrodynamic characteristics of ocean current turbine is benefit for the utilization of marine renewable energy.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Based on the computational results of two-dimensional hydrofoil using computational fluid dynamics(CFD),the best attack angle of the hydrofoil is firstly achieved by analyzing the ratio of lift to drag under different attack angles.The Wilson method is used in Matlab to design a horizontal axis current turbine with 20kW power.(2)The hydrodynamic characteristics of the current turbine,such as the power coefficient,moment coefficient and axial thrust coefficient under different pitch angles and tip speed ratios,are gained using CFD.(3)The static structural characteristics are calculated using the finite element method under the hydro-load,the deformation and equivalent stress of structure under different pitch angle are analyzed.
