As an extension of Mobile IPv6 to manage the mobility of the whole network, the research of NEMO has been extended to the fields of rescue, land transportation, aerospace and aeronautical communications. On account of the high speed, broad scope and the limited link bandwidth, aeronautical communications may suffer from some problems when the traditional NEMO protocols are directly applied. One is that the existing NEMO schemes don't mention the authentication issues and the security of packets transmission, which reduces the reliability of the aeronautical communications. The other is triangle routing problems caused by the nested-NEMO architecture and the large distance between the local communication area and home agent, which will increase the end-to-end latency and packet loss and lower the utilization of communication bandwidth. In this paper,an AAA authentication scheme and a route optimization scheme for nested NEMO are proposed to provide a higher level of security, lower latency and overhead to ensure the indifference service for passengers on the plane compared with that on the ground. This paper mainly focuses on the following researches:A handover authentication scheme based on security associations(HASA)is proposed for NEMO to improve the security of mobile network nodes and reliability of data transmission.Combining with AAA and NEMO,HASA authenticates the mobile network nodes during the handover procedure, which includes the micro authentication intra an access router domain and macro authentication inter two neighbor access routers.HASA pre-builds the security associations to make sure that the airplane, the AAA severs and the access routers could share the public key infrastructure themselves, which protects the data transmission. When performing the authentication,HASA authenticates care-of address and mobile network prefix separately and exchanges the packets with the local AAA server to avoid the triangle routing problems. The performance analysis shows that HASA not only decrease the handover latency and computation cost, but also mitigates the tunneling burden to lower the packet loss.At last, the simulation result and analysis of security show that HASA can provide a lower end-to-end latency and a higher level of security over other existing schemes.A secure route optimization scheme for nested-NEMO(SRON)is proposed to deal with the triangle routing problems caused by the nested-NEMO architecture and the large distance between the local communication area and home agent. The main idea of SRON is to enhance the field of care of address when performing the authentication of care of address in nested-NEMO.The local AAA will form a routing table to record the root address of mobile router in the local communication area. The mobile router and access router could directly exchange the packets according to the routing table, which will elimate the concept of nested logically and solve the triangle routing problem. What's more, the whole route optimization procedure is performed in local AAA to decrease the overhead. The bi-directional tunnel between mobile router and access router also avoid too much times of packets encapsulation and forwarding. In addition,SRON can be deployed well without introducing any network entities.
