With the reconstruction of urban power networks,it has become an inevitable trend that cable lines will be more and more widely used in distribution networks.In order to ensure the reliability of power supply and the quality of electricity,the online monitoring of cable faults is becoming more and more important.At present there is few study on cable fault location,analysis on location of the lines with branch and the cable networks is still a new research area.Online fault location system of 10kV single ring cable feeder is studied in this thesis based on traveling wave principle for the cable networks' fault location.The structure of single ring cable feeder is analyzed and the single ring cable feeder is divided into different levels.The location theory and arithmetic about T-type line have been devised.Then the final results can be get after statistical analysis of preliminary data of every T-type line.Based on the theoretical analysis,the layout scheme of measurement points are performed in this paper.And then,GPRS wireless communication network was chosen as the data communication network of the system.Then the designing of the hardware and software of single ring cable feeder fault location system are also performed in this paper.Finally,PSCAD(Power System Computer Aided Design)technology is used to simulate a fault of the single ring cable feeder and the fault data is got from it.MATLAB software programming algorithm is also used to identify the reliability and correction of them.The system can achieve the prediction as well as the positioning of the 10kV single ring cable feeder fault at the same time.The system can find the point of failure rapidly and accurately,so as to reduce outage maintenance time,ensure the power supply reliability.
