The Artistic Expression Of Place Theory In Public Space

We face a very contradictory situation even in this information age.People lack communication badly and the relationship between human and nature environment、public space got worse although we have advanced technology and the quality of life have greatly improved.Public space have inseparable connection with architectural、environment and city.Handling of these relationships has become the dominant factor for the public art planning.Under such circumstances,there’s a big area about how to place the site together with the public space,express the artistic quality and promote the harmonious development of man and nature.This paper tries to introduce the architectural phenomenology theory——place spirit——to discuss the artistic expression of public space.Based on these,I begin at analysing the related theory and the design idea of place theory and elaborating the function and characteristic of it,then I try to do some further research by dig out public space concept and its artistics expression by some examples.At last,I talk about “Xixi Green Land” and “Bells Feast”.I hope this article can strengthen the theoretical knowledge of public space and inspire the contemporary creation practice for public art.
