Wave-piercing Catamaran (WPC) may gain an additional resistance due to the installation of T-foils. Meanwhile, some appendages which can improve the flow field of ship and reduce the hull resistance without changing the main ship hull form has been one of the focuses. Based on CFD method, this paper optimizes the resistance performance of WPC with T-foils by using appendages.Because model tests take a long time and a lot of money, CFD method is used instead of model test to calculate the resistance of WPC. The comparison of the model test result and simulation result shows that CFD method has a high precision and can be used to calculate the resistance of WPC. With the simulation result,this paper analyses mechanism of interceptor and stern wedge and find out the main parameters. Then additional researches about the influence of the change of appendage parameters, such as height of interceptor, angle of stern wedge and length of stern wedge, on resistance performance are studied.Based on Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO), relying on partial structure reconstruction method,CFD simulation method and optimization theoretical method,a MDO optimization platform is established. With the platform,a series of optimizations, which aims at the resistance performance of WPC, on height of interceptor are conducted. Through the optimizations, the best height of interceptor at any speed of WPC is obtained, which can be used to guide the control of the interceptor.Based on partial structure reconstruction method, additional researches about the influence of change of interceptor on ship resistance performance are studied. Then using multidisciplinary optimization platform, respectively aiming at the resistance of ship at cruise speed and highest design speed,optimizations on the shape of interceptor are conducted and the optimized results are obtained. The results shows that by using optimized interceptor ship,the resistance of WPC reduce 9.68% at cruise speed and 12.42% at highest design speed.
