As a common platform for unmanned surface vehicles, research on planing hullpowering performance has a great significance. For the powering performance, the mostdirect and effective method is to reduce the resistance in voyage. The planing craft, with itsown characteristics, leads to the resistance curve become camelback shaped form in transitionstage. Sailing in this stage is uneconomic, so it is necessary to optimize the planing boatresistance performance. Because of the interceptor and stern flap were widely used in varioushigh-speed ships. Therefore, this paper considered installing interceptors and stern flaps toachieve the purpose of resistance reduction and discussing the hydrodynamic mechanism oftwo appendages.Through understanding the research method of planing boat resistance performance andthe research status of two appendages at home and abroad, determine the research directionand method. In this paper, a numerical simulation method with model test is presented forsimulating the motion of the planning vessel with and without stern appendages in the calmwater, and predicting the resistance performance and running attitude.At first, the paper takes a test model as the research object, discussing the influence ofthe grid size on the ship surface and turbulence flow models for the forecast accuracy byusing the software STAR-CCM+. And combined the motion characteristics of planing vessel,we established a preliminary numerical simulation program.And then, predicting the resistance performance and running attitude for two ships in thestill water. Through comparative analysis the prediction result and the experimental and theSIT method results, it can prove the numerical simulation program is feasible and reliable onthe aspect of the actual physical phenomenon and the forecast precision.Based on above calculation scheme, the paper made a exploration about how the sternappendages parameters affected the resistance performance and navigation state. And bycombining the situation of the flow field around planing hull and the pressure distribution atthe bottom, we can analyze and get the hydrodynamic mechanism of interceptor and sternflap.Finally, in order to eliminate the influence of the running attitude and make a furtherresearch on the hydrodynamic mechanism of two stern appendages. The paper discussed the planing vessel resistance performance with and without appendages in the clam water bymodel experiment at the fixed navigation state.Through the former study, we know two appendages affect the resistance of the planingboat by change the navigation state and the fluid field around the hull. The appendage canreduce the resistance in transition stage and does not good for resistance performance in highspeed stage. |
