Currently, the berth in our country trend to be built in deep water and the scale of it becomes much bigger than before; the shoreline resource with excellent foundation and water depth condition has been mostly developed and utilized. As the sheet pile wharf does not have high requirements on the foundation and it has high durability, the wide application of this new type of sheet pile wharf which is suitable for deep-water berths will become inevitable.Owing to the lack of corresponding design specification, the mechanical characteristics of some new type of sheet pile wharf structure, such as steel tubular-sheet pile wharf, have not been studied clearly. So the study on a new type of sheet pile wharf structure becomes an important issue.This paper firstly consulted the relevant literatures and summarized the development and research status of steel tubular-sheet pile wharf. The calculation method of soil pressure acting on the wall of sheet pile has been summed up, as well as the calculation method of the front wall of the sheet pile wharf structure. The paper described related theories in this thesis.Aiming at a steel tubular-sheet pile wharf structure,based on finite element method,the main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1) According to the sheet pile wharf structure data in a geotechnical centrifuge model,a finite element model of sheet pile wharf has been established. Then we calculated active soil pressure acting on the front wall and bending moment of the front wall. Comparing the calculated results with the experimental results, we can check if a two-dimensional finite element specific modeling method of sheet pile wharf is reasonable.(2) The finite element numerical model of a typical steel tubular-sheet pile wharf was established. Some characters such as plastic response of soil, the contact between the pile and soil, the contact between the pile and the draw rod were taken into consideration. By comparing with horizontal displacement of wharf pile which was calculated and the scene recorded value, this finite element numerical model was proved feasible.(3) The modal analysis of steel tubular-sheet pile wharf structure was calculated by numerical model, including natural frequencies and natural modes.(4) The research method for setting boundary conditions in implicit dynamic analysis step has been studied. The dynamic response of steel tubular-sheet pile wharf was figured out under the actual seismic acceleration time history. The relationship between the internal force of the pull rod, the internal force of the front wall, the displacement of the front wall and the peak value of earthquake acceleration was studied. The dynamic response of wharf under the impact of ship collision was figured out. The relationship between the wharf internal force and berthing velocity was studied; the relationship between the wharf displacement and berthing velocity was also studied.
