The motion path measurement of underwater vertical vehicles is an important basis on the research of its hydrodynamic characteristics. And has important significance on the designation, development and improvement, but the process has the characteristics of fast speed, short time, complicated conditions, limted plaform. So it placed higher demand on the acoustic positioning technology. It is an available technical means that vehicle is equipped with cooperative acoustic beacon for accurate measurement. The traditional acoustic positioning method can not meet demand. The research, design, reasoning must be done on the structural propeties, signal system and measuring array distribution.The paper discusses the preliminary design of the positioning system, gives the composition and funtion of the cooperative acoustic beaconare, submarine mesurement subsystem, acoustic buoys mesurement subsystern, date processing subsystem, and its workflow. According to the measurement demand, the analys of positioning theory,the establishment of positioning model was gained. Based on the character of the underwater acoustic channel of test area, the propagating distance of the sound signal is obtained. The positioning error of the submarine sonars and the acoustic buoys was got through simulated calculation. The effect of timing error, sonar positioning error, sond velocity measuring error on the positioning precision was analyzed. On this basis, the design of the long baseline measuring array distribution wascarried out, A and B array distribution schemes were proposed, simulation calculation was carried on the positioning error of A and B schemes. An early result on the design of the measure project was made by comparing two results.The work of this paper is a preliminary exploration to the measurement of underwater vertical high target. The influence of the array configuration to the positioning error distribution was gained. The research results for vehicles measurement program Formulation,development of measurement equipment and assessment of the measurement result have a certain reference value.
