With the development of synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) technology and further study of multibeam bathymetric technology, multibeam synthetic aperture sonar technology has been studied extensively at home and abroad in recent years. The multibeam SAS is based on the high-precision multi-beam bathymetric sonar technology and the synthetic aperture imaging technology, and as underwater topography measurement equipment which has high efficiency and accuracy. As an important part of signal processing, the performance of receiver affects the performance of sonar equipment directly, so the design and implement of receiver is crucial to multieam SAS.Firstly, the principle of active and passive sonar receiver was analyzed and the main work was decided based on the design requirement.Secondly, the characteristic and component of receiver was analyzed in detail according to the technical requirement and component of multibeam SAS. The feasible solve scheme was proposed based on the low noise requirement of receiver.Thirdly, the alternative chips and circuits of controllable gain amplifier, fixed gain amplifier, band-pass filter and linear optocoupler isolation were selected and three test channel schemes of receiver were designed according to the design requirement. All test channel schemes were tested and the best one was finally used in multibeam SAS.Finally, multibeam SAS receiver which the number of channels is 128 was designed based on the selected circuits and design requirement. The efficiency of the designed receiver system was tested. The results of tests show that the gain and noise characteristic satisfy the design requirement and the consistency of channels is good.
