Of the main equipment in the power plant, shaft rotating equipment accounts for a large proportion, such as turbines and generators. The rotating equipment often fails because of the long running time, high working parameters, poor working conditions.Shaft bending is a major accident during plant operation, similar incidents have occurred in the country and abroad. Not only does the shaft bending cause the direct economic losses, but also spends a lot of manpower, material and financial resources for the needed correction. This paper describes the existing rotor dynamics theory and introduces the methods of dynamics of different rotor-bearing system. For the common faults in the operational rotor system vibration mechanisms are studied from the view of unbalanced mass. And then, based on condition monitoring and fault diagnosis technology in the turbine rotor bearing system, this paper discusses how to extract the features common fault state reasonably efficiently and select the analyzed signals and methods correctly.Chaoyang Power Plant Unit #1 is the first 200 MW Steam Turbine of selfdesigned, manufactured and installed by China. The unit has happened twice shaftbent failure, many times of blade fracture accident, and unit safety is greatly reduced.Transformation was made of Chaoyang plan # 1 unit. Not only is the efficiency improved but also the reliability of the unit. For actual shaft bending, this paper analyzes the vibration characteristics of the power plant steam turbine rotor Chaoyang.Combined with the specific content of transformation, this paper introduced the application of rotor balancing technology in the field of the repairing process, which provides a theoretical basis for the future transformation of the same type of unit.
