In the coal fired power plant,the abrasion of the impeller is a difficult problem,which plays an important role in the safe and reliable operation of the unit.Study the wear mechanism and the surface wear-resistant coating technology have been a hot spot.In this paper,the failure mechanism of the impeller is analyzed,and the cladding layer is fabricated on the impeller with plasma cladding technology.The microstructure of the cladding layer was analyzed,the mechanical properties were tested,and the wear and erosion tests were carried out.The results show the hardness of the cladding layer is as higher as 1500 HV,which is 7~8 times of the 16 Mn steel,the wear resistance is 6 ~ 9 times of the 16 Mn steel.The wear behavior of the cladding layer belongs to plastic wear and brittle wear,which is characterized by plastic wear and has good erosion resistance and abrasive wear characteristics.In the actual operation,has a strong wear resistance and energy saving potential.
