After the energy crisis in the 1970s,the whole world began to pay attention to building energy conservation. Many developed countries established energy consumption quota systems fitting their conditions to limit the increase of building energy consumption.Chinese relevant research fell behind them and focused on public buildings.Till to 1986,China started to do some research on the energy consumption of residential buildings.Due to mild climatic conditions of Yunnan, the building energy efficiency works were attached importance to lately so that there is little research on energy consumption of residential buildings in Yunnan Province. With the development of economy and rising standard of living, energy consumption of residential buildings has been increasing.Taking the sustainable development of building into account, this paper do some research on the energy consumption limit of residential buildings in Yunnan province.Firstly, based on the summary of domestic and foreign literature, some theoretical study was done on this subject. Two methods using statistic data or calculation(including simulation)were presented, and also how to use them were elaborated in this paper. Then, four typical cities in Yunnan Province were selected as examples for the research, which were Kunming in middle moderate climate zone,Zhaotong in northern moderate Climate zone,Xianggelila in cold climate zone,Jinghong in hot summer and cold winter climate zone. For each Climate zone, energy consumption data was collected and site investigation was done in 50 households, and the indoor temperature and humidity of a typical household were recorded the whole year. The influencing factors of energy consumption data of residential buildings were analyzed by partial correlation analysis and linear regression, and the influencing factors and regression equations in four regions were determined with the per capita annual energy consumption as the energy consumption index. Also, the quota level table for the per capita annual energy consumption of the four cities were calculated.According to the tables,it is clear that the average reasonable quota level for urban residential buildings in each region is 0.5,the average high is 0.75-0.8,and the average low is 0.2.Thirdly,based on the research data, the energy consumption for household appliances, hot water and cooking were calculated with the statistical yearbook and the relevant energy-saving design specifications. At the same time, the standardized building model of each climate zone were established, and the energy consumption of lighting, heating and air-conditioning for four representative cities and the cities of each climate zones were determined using simulation method after validating the correctness and applicability of the model. All energy consumption of the sub-items were summed up and the building energy technology quota of four typical cities and five climate zones were obtained. With the average reasonable quota of statistical quota and technical quota, the range of energy consumption limits of four typical cities and the upper limit of energy consumption limits of the five climates were determined. Finally, the PMV thermal comfort model was used to analyze the indoor thermal comfort of four research areas to verify the rationality of energy consumption quota. In view of the implementation of energy consumption quota, some corresponding energy saving policy advice was given, which provides a theoretical basis for energy saving work of residential buildings in Yunnan Province.
