China’s historic city is built by water.The water system is an important infrastructure for ancient cities.It plays an important role in urban construction,production life and economic development,with water supply and drainage,transportation,city disaster prevention,improve the environment and other functions.For China’s historical and cultural city,the connotation of urban water system is rich,not only the city’s important natural landscape,but also an important historical and cultural resources of the city.Since the 20 th century,the large-scale expansion of urban construction,the city’s water resources and water space caused serious damage,water area reduction,water quality deterioration,water use function degradation,decline in the waterfront space.Since the 1990 s,Since the 1990 s,with the development of social economy,the improvement of living standard and the popularization of environmental awareness,people began to re-examine the function and value of water system,and gradually realized that urban water system is a valuable ecological resources,but also a valuable historical and cultural resources And urban public space.Urban water system witnessed the development and change of the city,is to shape the city characteristics,strengthen the city style,display the city culture carrier,itself should be as an important historical and cultural protection object.This paper is divided into three parts.First,through the analysis of the relationship between urban water system and urban location,urban development,urban planning and construction,urban spatial characteristics,urban culture and urban ecological environment,it reveals its important historical,cultural and ecological values;combing the historical evolution of urban water system Process,pointing out that human activities are the main factors affecting the water environment,and then put forward the status quo of modern urban water system,and find the cause of the problem.After the analysis of the theoretical development and practice of the protection and utilization of the historical and cultural cities in China and abroad,the successful experiences are summarized and the trend of the protection and utilization of the historical and cultural cities is obtained.Finally,taking Jingzhou historical and cultural city as an example,this paper systematically analyzes the relationship between urban water system and the development and construction of the ancient city,summarizes the value characteristics of Jingzhou water system,analyzes the existing problems and causes of water systemconstruction,and then puts forward the basic idea of urban water system protection and utilization Specific strategy.This paper is based on the respect and understanding of the regional culture,which aims to find the way of protection and utilization of the historical and cultural cities.
