Nowadays the railway construction of our country is in full swing,and the construction focus is transferred to the middle and western area.However,a large area of desert spreads in the middle and western part.The adverse weather conditions and the serious sandstorm have a very bad effect on the survey and design of the railway route.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out the research on the railway route selection in the desert area.Firstly,the general situation of the desert in our country as well as its formation conditions and the law of sandstorm movement are discussed.What’s more,several common types of sandstorm hazards to the railway are also analyzed.Secondly,the common strategies for route selection of railway in desert areas are summarized and developed systematically.The main contents include:the selection of railway direction,the selection of roadbed forms,the principles of graphic design,the selection principles of the location of station yard,etc.Meanwhile,the selection strategies for different types of desert landforms are discussed as well.Then,a comprehensive assessing indicator system which applies to the comparison of route schemes in the desert area are set up.This indicator system is based on the research of the factors influencing the railway route in the desert area.The system includes four first indicators of technical,economical,environmental,social and political meanings as well as nineteen second indicators of the angle of intersection between the route and the main wind direction,the influence on the water environment and so on.Finally,AHP is used in this paper to solve the index weight and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is set up by introducing fuzzy mathematics for the evaluation and decision-making of the route scheme,which provides scientific basis for the evaluation and optimization of selecting railway route scheme in the desert area.At the same time,the model is used to compare and optimize the three route schemes in the feasibility study phase about whether to pass through Ruoqiang County or not,which is a regional location of the newly-built railway from Geermu City to Kuerle City.The calculation result of the model gives the subordinated levels of the three schemes and draws the conclusion that passing through Ruoqiang County is the best plan,which is in accordance with the recommended plan of the feasibility study report made by the Institute.The experimental example indicates that the assessing indicator system and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model of the paper are scientific and practical,and have practical significance for guiding the evaluation and optimization of the railway route scheme in desert areas.
