Public transport is an important way to alleviate the pressure of urban traffic.As a kind of urban public transportation,modern tram has been favored by people in recent years after a comprehensive technical upgrade.At present,many cities in our country are planning and building tram system.However,most tram lines are laid on the road plane,and the choice of signal control at the crossroads has an important impact on ensuring the tram’s efficient operation,improving operational service levels and reducing the overall delays in the intersections.Firstly,this paper describes the operating characteristics of the tram and traffic conditions,and gives a brief overview of the signal control process and signal priority control system.In the case of the active signal priority control strategy of the tram,and on the basis of the vehicle delay at the entrance channel of the intersection.the overall efficiency function considering the passenger delay and the per capita delay value is established.And considering the inherent relation between the departure time and intersection signal priority scheme,a combined control strategy is established.Taking the station control mode(immediately departure or holding strategy)as a preferred reaction method to control,and analyzing the intersection delay model and overall benefit function of the combined control strategy(immediately departure,immediate departure + green extension,immediately departure + phase insertion,immediate departure + phase rotation,immediate departure + early green)of the intersection delay model and the overall benefit function.The benefit value of each combined control strategy and the tram’s holding strategy is discussed,and choose the optimal solution to give priority for the tram.This strategy can not only get the priority of the tram,but also reduce the influence of other society vehicles,so as to minimize the delay loss.At the same time,the influence of uncertain of the tram’s stop time is reduced on the tram’s signal priority system and dispatching system.Finally,taking the intersection of tram line 1 in Suzhou city which is crossed by Jinfeng Road and Heshan Road as an example application to verify the benefit function of integrated control strategy.And analyzing the selections of the integrated control strategy when the tram arrives at the intersection at any time of the signal interval.Also,the signal timing is optimized by taking the benefit function as the minimum objective function.
