With the increasing scale of the power grid and the continuous improvement of modern industrial automation level, the type of load in the power grid is becoming more and more diversified, and the increasing proportion of sensitive load makes people pay more and more attention to power quality problems. In recent years,it has been found that the voltage sag is a kind of power quality problems, which has great impact on all kinds of sensitive load. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to ensure the stability of the whole system.Voltage sag is mainly caused by short circuit faults of the system. The different voltage sag observation matrix is constructed according to the different type of faults. The mathematical model of voltage sag monitoring of the whole system is set up with the minimum voltage sag monitoring device and the full observation of the voltage sag of the whole network can be satisfied. Finally, the particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to solve the mathematical model and the final configuration is determined. After that, the IEEE-39 node system is applied to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. On the basis of the obtained monitoring point distribution scheme, the fault distance p is taken as the state variable and the node voltage amplitude is taken as the measure variable. The fault location estimation model is solved by using the least squares criterion, which achieves accurate positioning of the source. On the basis of the source location algorithm, this paper uses the virtual instrument technology to develop the voltage sag source positioning device, which has certain practical significance and application value.
