As the lowest latitude, highest elevation and largest area of permafrost in the world, the Qinghai Tibet Plateau has a wide range of frozen soil.Compared with the high latitude frozen soil, the permafrost of high altitude is thinner and the average temperature is higher,so it is more sensitive and easily changed by the external factors. Its changes will have a great impact on the global climate, the domestic ecological environment and human economic activities. However, with the economic development of the Qinghai Tibet region, the local disturbance of plateau climate caused by the construction of the Qinghai Tibet highway, railway and other projects has led to the degradation of the frozen soil. In turn, permafrost degradation will inevitably lead to changes in surface conditions, thus affecting the stability of the project. In order to provide suggestions for strengthening the stability of the Qinghai Tibet highway, it is necessary to understand the variation characteristics of the frozen soil near the Qinghai Tibet highway. On the northern slope of the Qinghai Tibet highway, the SIR30E radar is used for field survey to obtain a long survey line perpendicular to the Qinghai Tibet highway. The distribution of frozen soil in the experimentation area was studied. And the analysis of top and bottom interface for permafrost seasonal propagation velocity inversion of electromagnetic wave through the velocity data of CMP data and wide angle emission, melting layer thickness and permafrost top interface, and the use of parallel sections establish Pseudo 3D data analysis for small area of frozen soil. The results show that GPR is suitable for Tibetan Plateau harsh climate environment, can high resolution detection under the distribution characteristics of frozen soil; the Qinghai Tibet highway in Beiluhe permafrost depth distribution on both sides was significantly higher than that of natural surface under the Permafrost Distribution depth, the more close to the Qinghai Tibet highway on the frozen soil interface is more deep, the permafrost degradation is obvious, and the influence on permafrost of Qinghai Tibet highway roughly in the range of 30m.
