The highway distress is one of factors preventing the local economical development in permafrost regions. The Qinghai-Tibet Highway is the main line to and from Tibet province, which is of importance for Tibet in its economic development, political stability and national defense safety, and it is called as the Gold Bribge between Beijing and Tibet. So it is necessary that the subgrade distresses of the Qinghai-Tibet highway are studied. This paper, through the investigation of the subgrade distresses, introduces the longitudinal crack and non-uniform distortion is the main distresses, and studies their characters and distributing regularities. For Rayleigh Wave has great advantages over the project geology investigation, the paper uses it to analyze the permafrost and the reasons for distresses. In order to prevent the distresses from appearing, the paper studies the design principle of the subgrade, the proper height of the subgrade, preventing methods of the distress for the special subgrade and the repairing methods of the distress for the destroyed subgrade. In addition, the experiment roads is built and analyzed.
