Due to its advantages oflight weight,high strength and seismic resistance,more and moresteel structures have been applied in the large-scale engineering constructions and then production and installation of steel structure has also graduallybecome a hot research.With the changesof engineering’s environments and employer’s demands,traditional steel structure’s fabrication and installation technology can not meet these requirements,so ultra-high steel structure’s production and assembly of arbitrary inclined angle will become the development trend of steel structure research.Meanwhile,Corresponding theoretical research and practical works will be confronted with following major subjects,including how to adjust the process or construction sequence to solve the problems related to flange members which required secondary or even several times adjustments,how to achieve the visual management of technical innovation during each component’s aspect of plate cutting,fabrication,shipping and installation as well as how to make the kinds of fabricating and assembling work economical,energy-efficient,environmental and efficient and other a series of issues.Taking PetroChina’s Fushun Burning Tower(150 m)and Satellite Rocket LaunchingTower(120 m)of General Armament Department as its research background and making use of BIM(Building Information Modeling)technology to administrate and control the processes of deep design,material,schedule and delivery,etc.This paper summarizes the experience of traditional methods for the column bottom’s tilt positioning of three-dimensional assembly and studies ultra-high and arbitrary angle inclined steel pipe tower’s fabrication and three-dimensional assembling technology.This paper is divided into four parts: The first part mainly describes this topic’s background,research purpose and significance,contents and methods and introduces the relevant preparatory works for the project’s research.The second part discusses the manufacturing process of steel structure from the aspects of material processing,handling and assembling prior to assembly,flange installationand schedule management methods based on BIM technology.The third part focuses on the welding material,welding parametersand the control and elimination of welding shrinkage deformationbased on the steel structure welding technology.The fourth part finally applies the research findings successfully to the fabrication and installation of ultra-high steel tower at any inclined angles on the basis of BIM technology innovation for steel structure’s transportation management methods through the research and design of the new type of assembling base,the new steel columns installed hanging plate,the new installation cage and the new transport tire rack to overcome the shortcomings of traditional steel transport and assembly technology.
