Research On The Seismic Behavior Of Linked Column Frame

Abstract/Summary:
The linked column frame is a type of typical damage-control structures,consists of dual columns interconnected with replaceable link and flexible steel frame.The links firstly enter plastic condition to dissipate energy under earthquake effect and non-energy dissipation elements(beams,columns and so on)develop plasticity when the deformation is too large.There is a significant yield sequence in the structure.Finite element analysis software ABAQUS was used to simulate and to analyze the seismic performance of the linked column steel frame in this thesis.Besides,some suggestions were given for how the span,the story height,the strength grade of steel structure and the length of the link affect seismic performance of the linked column steel frame.Finally,the reasonable range of story drift ratio for rapid return to occupancy was presented in this thesis.The main researches are summarized as follows:(1)This thesis refers to the relevant specification and literature,applies the software SAP2000 to design a 4×6-span 6-story linked column steel frame and selects a one-span2-story structure as the BASE specimen for finite element analysis.(2)It establishes a finite element model of the BASE specimen by ABAQUS,analyze the related tests and verify the modeling approaches.(3)The seismic performance of the BASE specimen through hysteretic curves,skeleton curves,stiffness degradation curves and energy dissipation capacity were analyzed in this thesis.Comparing with the LJ specimen which apply the bolted connection in the link,it comes out that as long as the strength and the stiffness of the connection are enough,the seismic performance of the BASE specimen will be the same with the performance of the LJ specimen.(4)With the application of the software ABAQUS,the parameter finite element analysis on the linked column steel frame was analyzed,and the influence of the span,the story height,the strength grade of steel structure and the length of the link on the seismic performance of the linked column steel frame were considered.It comes out that the effect of span on the seismic performance of the structure is small while the height has a great influence on it;the link of the structure should be designed to shear yield;with the increase in the strength grade of steel structure,the structure of the energy consumption is more reasonable.(5)With the tri linear model and the feature of damage-control structures,considering the influence of the span,the story height,the strength grade of steel structure and the link length,the reasonable range for rapid return to occupancy by replacing links is given.
