In current research and product manufacturing,various RF and control signal of special timing sequence and data are needed as the input test signal for the test of different projects and products.Although general instruments can generate the needed test signal,expensive signal generators and encoders are required and the control software needs to be programmed,which leads to high cost of human resources,economy and time.This thesis,in an attempt to address the above issue and the actual demand of a certain project,designs and realizes a comprehensive test instrument.This thesis takes the designing of digital RF up-conversion system as the research object and completes the hardware platform building and software development of the comprehensive test instrument.It generates the RF signal with special timing sequence and frequency and customized base band data as the test signal and carries out the functional test and the boundary performance test of some technical specifications.The automatic test of product can be realized through the configuration and management of the parameters,status control and test procedure by communication interface,thus the instrument is flexible,fast and inexpensive.The design of digital RF up-conversion system is the key to realizing the comprehensive test instrument.This thesis conducts in-depth discussion and research of the method of designing the digital RF up-conversion system with Altera's Quartus?DSP Builder and Matlab Simulink.Quartus II DSP Builder integrates digital signal processing models and tools based on FPGA in Simulink.It explores the theoretical basis of the insertion,digital mixing,digital filtering of the digital baseband signal and the transmitting to wideband DA to realize direct RF output.The model building,software simulation,hardware simulation and hardware code generation of up-conversion system are carried out in Simulink and the hardware platform development of the comprehensive test instrument is completed with DSP(TI's digital signal processor TMS320F28335),FPGA(Altera's Stratix EP3SE110)and DA(Analog Devices,Inc's AD9739)as the main device.With upper computer control software,the generation of test signal with special data and timing sequence is realized.The test and verification of actual products shows that this comprehensive test instrument can fast and efficiently conduct test of multiple functions and performance specifications such as the connectivity rate,receiving sensitivity,received frequency tolerance,time synchronization and drift,data return and control interface with accurate test result.The design method of the comprehensive test instrument complies with the software defined radio concept and with the advancement of technological level and progress of manufacturing technology,the high-speed hardware to realize the digital up-conversion is getting mature.This method with the features of flexibility and high-efficiency can be widely applied to the design of equipments and instruments such as transmitter and standard signal source and has broad application in various fields including communication,consumer electronics and industry.
