Turning gait is very common in daily, life, researching the walking characters of turning gait is important for physical design and gait planning of walking assistive equipment.Nowadays, foreign scholars have carried on some researches about turning gait. However, they didn't conduct a targeted research on EMG signal and plantar pressure parameter, the relationship between different parameters was not be studied either. Therefore, this study conducts a turning test using Vicon system combined with EMG signal system and plantar pressure capture system to study the gait character of turning gait.Turning gait parameters of 10 healthy young men were captured.Every subject h performed straight walking and turning.Turning gait was divided into two angles turning which are 60° and 90°.There are two turning strategies which are inside leg turning and outside leg turning and subjects performed both of them.Spatio-temporal gait, kinetic, kinematic and EMG parameters during walking were collected and analyzed. This paper mainly studied the following two aspects:First, gait parameters of different turning strategies were analyzed to find out gait characters of different turning strategies on the condition of specific turning angle.Second,on the condition of specific turning strategy, gait parameters of different bend angles trning and straight walking were analyzed to study the influences of turning angle on gait characters, and then to summarize the law of turning gait.According to the results of the gait characters of different turning strategies and different turning angles, this study gives advice to the design of dynamic walking assistive equipment. The results of this study can also provide theoretical foundation for medical diagnosis, walking rehabilitation training and design of walking assistive equipment, etc.
