With the development of economy,pedestrian traffic safety is becoming more and more serious.At present,China’s urban road pedestrian traffic condition is poor.The mortality of walking transport mode is very high.Especially at some signal intersections,the right-turn vehicles ’turning behavior is out of control,and prone to conflicts with pedestrians,which will even lead to traffic accidents.This may bring about ineffective intersection and then affect the entire road network.The pedestrian safety problems must be extraordinary enough.This paper first analysed the present situation of signal intersection crossing pedestrian traffic,and introduced the present research situation of conflict between pedestrian and right-turning vehicle at home and abroad.Based on crossing pedestrian traffic characteristics and right-turning vehicle traffic characteristics,the conflict characteristics of pedestrian and right-turning vehicles was analysed in-depth,also,determining the conflict zone.And according to the type of pedestrian crossing,the conflict is divided into A,B,C,D,E five categories.The typical intersection is surveyed by video detection method,and study the impact of conflict on their traffic characteristics depending on conflict data analysis of pedestrian and right-turning.Meanwhile,the conflict degree model of right-turning vehicle and pedestrian is established to calculate the degree of conflict.Then,based on the analysis of conflict characteristics and conflict severity,a comprehensive simulation model to describe the conflict process between right-turn vehicles and pedestrians was proposed according to the turning process and decision-making process of right-turn vehicles.The validity of the model is verified by VISSIM simulation.Finally,the paper studied the countermeasures of intersection safety promotion.Taking the intersection of Zhongshan Gate street and Shengli Village Road as an ex ample,the simulation model was used to simulate the improved intersection.The si mulation results show that the intersection security was improved.It is verified that the model can evaluate the effectiveness of the improvement measures.
