Cities are big centres social-economic-natural complex ecosystem, and urban metabolism is one of the basic functions.Currently,China is experiencing a rapid urbanization. It is the production and consumption of material and energy which support the urban development, which brings about a series of ecological and environmental problems such as the shortage of resources, environmental degradation, air and noise pullotion and decrease of life quality and so on.To some extent, all of the ecological and environmental problems are created due to the temporal-spatial disorder or dislocation of urban material and energy metabolism(UMEM).Identification of the relationship between the UMEM process and the urban ecosystem,as well as the ecological and environmental impacts will offer useful information for urban planning, construction and management. Our research was based on one of the city’s main building, and we had conducted research on urban buildings residential buildings.Residential buildings provide us a place for urban residents like to improve the living area and improve the living standards ahave to improve the standard of living of urban residents is important. At the same time, residential building need to consume a lot of resources and energy, take up a lot of land. Thus,in the residential construction brought to the city to improve living standards,we only pay attention to the design of residential research, planning, residential development should study the environmental impact, particularly on the whole ecological environment. This has important implications for the achievement of sustainable development of cities. This paper will discuss the urban housing as a system, the first to use the system analysis method to analyze the metabolic processes of the material of the system.Metabolic processes can be divided into three parts:the input of building materials, construction waste and transforming fixed output of building materials. Then follow the Beijing residential building structure is divided into two categories:brick, concrete and steel mixed by projections of two different types of residential units in the area of building materials consumption, according to the statistics of the residential area, further calculations Beijing needed to build new homes per year according to the total amount of building materials, namely the system.According to the area every year new and demolition,we have calculated the amount of output of construction waste, construction waste from these sources can be divided into two parts:First, new residential construction site generated;Second, the old house demolished generated. The analysis revealed that residential steel mixing of the two structures of the large consumption of building materials, mainly from the ontribution of gravel, sand and cement.Prior to 1978,the total garbage(system output)is relatively low and subsequently increasing rapidly.Since 1988 the amount of waste generated by demolition and renovation of new housing starts was greater than the amount produced. In Beijing this rapidly developing city as a case study,Beijing urban residential construction as the research object, the region’s residential construction systems of matter and energy input 1953-2012 60-year period, the cumulative output of the case.Research shows that during 60 years, the rapid development of Beijing’s urban housing system to the urban ecological environment has brought a lot of pressure. From the time the dynamic point of view, before 1978,Beijing residential development remained at a low level of development,in 1978 after entering the stage of rapid development. From the perspective of metabolic substances since 1953-1995 and 2012,total material inputs were 6.35×108T,before 1978 Beijing residential building systems cumulative efficiency fluctuations, the average level of 95%.Since then, the system efficiency substances accumulated slowly and decrease to 90%or less, from the reflection of the growing Beijing city building demolition and renovation accelerated construction waste.Through the above analysis, our initial understanding of the impact of residential development in Beijing brought after the first five-year plan to provide a theoretical basis for future urbanization development and planning.
