Changning Ximen Lake Park Design

Ximen Lake Park is a newly-built urban park which takes waterscape as the theme in Changning, covers an area of 480.66 acres, is a open urban park which gives the priority to waterscape, takes green as a companion, takes people as the foremost, and provides leisure, fitness, and sightseeing for public.The author did a systematic analysis about the development courses of urban park, the evolution of design style and the design theories and methods of urban park by consulting domestic and foreign literature material, reference and learn from design experience of urban park which has been built, conducted field reconnaissance in Ximen Lake Park, then did a analysis according to the bases situation, construction conditions and problems. Summarize the problems existing in the base:serious water pollution, poor infrastructure, lack of participation experience, plant growth in poor condition and geographical and cultural characteristics is not obvious.According to the construction requirements of urban park, the adjust measures to local conditions, the natural ecology, economy applicable, people-oriented and highlight the characteristics of the design principles has been proposed, and on the basis of defining the functional positioning and the design goal of the urban park, then carrying out landscape design of Ximen Lake Park in Changning. The main design results are as follows:(1) According to the differences between the function and landscape, the park is divided into eleven regions which include entrance landscape region, fitness region, Forest Landscape region, Lake recreation region, activities for the elderly region, children's activity region, forest recreation region, Osmanthus and Lagerstroemia region, woodland fitness region, cherry forest, fish pond, which meet the functional requirements of the fitness and leisure and enjoy the landscape.(2) According to the topography of the base, and the principle of integrating the scenic spots in the park, conducting a design plan about road system to meet the park virescence and guided tours.(3) Based on retain the existing of vegetations, combining with the characteristics of the various functional areas, using natural configuration mode and performing tree, shrub and grass multi-level plant cultivation, forming a abundant landscape, ecological and beautiful plant community.(4) Combined with the original Large Water Surface of the base, arranged large water curtain fountain, colorful fountains and etc., to strengthen the visual effect of the water, then according to the differences of topographic height, arranging different forms of waterscape such as waterfalls, mountain streams, or waterfalls, ponds and etc. To highlight the park's waterscape and fully demonstrate the landscape features of the park..(5) Combined with the overall style of the park, building the construction and service facilities with the coordination of the landscape and practical functions, to make the harmonious coexistence of the park.Finally, based on relying on the topography of the base, give full play to local position advantages, Changning Ximen Lake Park is built a municipal urban park which includes various types of waterscape, abundant plant landscape and setting leisure, fitness, recreation, tourism and ecological experience and other functions in one, looking forward to providing reference for urban park design practice in the future, and laying the foundation for further study about the urban park.
