Among diverse historical buildings in Qingdao City,Art Deco buildings assumed Qingdao's mission to explore the new architecture and inaugurated the transition process of Qingdao's buildings towards modernist architecture.They are indispensable precious relics among Qingdao's various historical buildings.However,due to lack of understanding of Art Deco architecture culture and that simple decorations and modernized appearance of Art Deco buildings are not so attractive to people,these buildings are ignored and abandoned by people at urban corners after many years of vicissitudes.The paper is aimed at filling the blank of the research field of Qingdao's Art Deco buildings to allow people to further understand historical buildings in this style,so as to provide a theoretical basis for relevant protection and renovation works.Starting from the origin of art deco.Sort out its rheological process throughout the world.Summarize the Changes of Art Deco style in the evolvement process.In addition,performance of Art Deco in buildings of other domestic cities was also summarized to provide a theoretical basis for comparison between them and Qingdao's Art Deco buildings.Then,detailed research on Qingdao's Art Deco buildings was conducted.At first,according to historical changes of Qingdao's modern buildings,the reason for emergence of Art Deco buildings in Qingdao was investigated.Then,after a lot of field surveys and historical literature research,based on the development history of Art Deco in European and American countries,the evolvement process of Qingdao's Art Deco buildings was sorted out,which was phased into four stages: germination stage,development stage,flourishing stage and recession stage.In addition,characteristics of Qingdao's Art Deco buildings were evaluated.At last,the historical status and influence of Qingdao's Art Deco buildings were summarized to objectively analyze their cultural value,historical value and economic value.Then,corresponding protection and renovation measures were proposed for their current situation and problems.
