Deep space explorations activities arise from the curiosities of human beings for the Universe, which are the activities of conquering our Universe. The invaluable data set from the spaceborne instruments are direct products of deep space exploration missions, and they are also the objects of scientific researches and science outreach activities. The deep space explorations of China starting from Chang'E Program have already returned a large amount of datasets and made great achievements. With the increase of China's deep space missions, more and more data will be returned. Thus how to efficiently archive and release the data based on a data management system is critical. This study systematically investigates the international leading deep space data management systems like NASA PDS and ESA PSA, with intent to better understand the elements of data productions and distributions and their interactions. From the point view of engineering management, we put forward some solutions for those issues existing or forthcoming in China's deep space data managements. This thesis focuses on the investigation and recognition of the problems for China's deep space data archiving and managements, and performs a comprehensive survey on the international deep space data managements (e.g., NASA PDS and ESA PSA). Considering the shortcomes of China's deep space data managements, we take advantages of international experience in combination with China's situations, and then put forward the following five improvement measures including management policies, standard systems, organization architecture, system operations and pipeline managements, etc. (1) we should pay more attentions to the deep space science returns, follow the principles of open access and data service, and emphasize the standard managements of data archiving processes and improve the cooperation of different departments; (2) preliminary design the standard system of deep space science data management system; (3) advocate an unified China's deep space data management system with locally different distributed academic nodes; (4) normalize management details of archive activities, and pay attention to data quality and the data peer review processes; (5) cultivate more data archive specialists and improve the outreach activities of deep space explorations. We hope our investigations and suggestions of the deep space data managements would benefit the data managements of future China's deep space explorations (e.g., Chang'E program and Mars 2020 mission).
